The best thing about being a food blogger: Nick Joly’s confessions

What do you enjoy the most in your blogger job?

The best thing about being a full time food & wellness blogger is the flexibility it gives me. I still have to be motivated and self-driven, but I love that I can set my own schedule!

Now confide in us. What’s your biggest screw up in the kitchen?

Oy! Baking is always a coin-toss. It usually takes me a couple of batches to perfect a baking recipe! But that’s okay, I enjoy the process 🙂

If you were an avocado, in which recipe would you like to be in?

Guacamole is VERY under-rated in my opinion! I’m obsessed with a good, solid, jalapeño spiced guac! It’s so good in sandwiches or as a dip with chips which are my biggest weakness.

What is your guilty pleasure when it comes to food?

Anything salty and crunchy! Chips, crackers, nut-mix… snack foods get me every time! The limit does not exist with portion control (which is a major problem for me lol!).

Tell us what’s in your plate and we will tell you your avo-type! Pick one among these:

  1. You’re a guac fanatic! Avocado dips and tortillas are always close by.
In my plate is always fresh vegetables, sometimes roasted that I like to dip into sauces. I also really love chips and guac + chips and salsa. Anything crunchy and savoury! You are a guac fanatic! Avo-dips and tortillas are always an inch away!
  2. Since the appearance of avocado toast, your life has changed for the better.
  3. Your secret pleasure is slowly identifying the ingredients in your avocado Buddha bowl and creating THE ultimate balanced bite.

Can you provide some insight into your journey with food and your relationship with it now?

My journey with food has definitely evolved over time. I’ve tried all the diets and fads, and right now what works best for me is just listening to my body and eating intuitively. I eat a variety of foods in moderation, put a focus on organic fruits and vegetables, and treat myself from time to time with a small indulgence”. I’m a strong believer that foods have healing powers, so it’s important to distinguish between the foods that heal vs the ones that harm.
